OUTLINE DUE MONDAY
PAPER DUE TUESDAY
After finishing The Kite Runner and listening to the very informative presentations describing the development of Afghanistan's current conflict, educated readers can appreciate the deeper messages within this book. Every character in this book represents a very real issue. In class, we discussed how the ending of this story is not the typical happy ending, yet the ending is very purposeful in illustrating very real situations occurring in the world.
Design a thesis that draws upon a parallel. Some of the popular comparisons are dealing with Assef, Amir, and Sohrab. However, you can choose to pursue any direction to set your paper apart.
Collect evidence from both the book and research. Where and when you get your research is very important. This paper will include in-text citations which means that you will constantly be advertising the relevance of your research: According to the 2010 British Journal's article titled, "The US Mess", the United States ongoing war effort is grossly underfunded.
Create an outline based on the comparison structure that is attached above. Make sure you have really compelling evidence that evenly matches book and research information.
*While creating this outline you should be thinking about your SO WHAT. Writing a point by point comparison is worthless unless you are going to show us why this comparison is worth paying attention to in the first place. We'll discuss your 'so what' further in class on Monday.
